About Liberty

Liberty University was founded in 1971 by Jerry Falwell Sr. Since then, we have been committed to ensuring that his vision of training Champions for Christ is kept at the center of all we do. Here at Liberty, we strive to equip students with the necessary skills to succeed in both their careers and spiritual lives. With a focus on faith and service, we offer a top-tier education that is challenging, fulfilling, and well-rounded. Our faculty and staff work tirelessly to foster a strong sense of community among students and to develop and grow individuals so that they can make a positive impact on society as Champions for Christ.

Convocation

Convocation is one of the most distinctive features of Liberty University and has been an integral part of the student experience since our founding in 1971. The purpose of Convocation is, and always has been, to advance our mission of training Champions for Christ. Held every Wednesday and Friday throughout the semester, Convocation is the assembling of the student body to educate, inform, and inspire. With thousands of students in attendance and many more watching online; Convocation is one of the world's largest weekly gatherings of college students.

Campus Community

Our weekly Bible study, Campus Community, is held on Wednesday nights. Campus Community is the central gathering place for worship and spiritual growth at Liberty. All spiritual life flows out of this Word-centered worship service. Through this worship experience, students, staff, and faculty are able to connect with one another, grow in their faith, and deepen their relationship with God.
